Kazuki Yamada wins the 56th Suntory Music Award
Conductor Kazuki Yamada has been awarded the 56th Suntory Music Award.
The Suntory Music Award honors the individual or group who has made the most outstanding contribution to the advancement of Western music in Japan. This is the 56th time the award has been presented since it was established in 1969.
Kazuki Yamada received this award in recognition of the outstanding performance of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique and Saint-Saëns’s Symphony No. 3 《avec orgue》 on the Japan tour in May 2024 of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, of which he is artistic and musical director, as well as his subscription concert with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in February, and his leadership as music director of the Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo.
Following his debuts with the world’s top orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic, he will debut in the subscription concerts of the Berlin Philharmoniker in June this year. “Yamakazu” captivates the world, and his growth knows no limits.
Furthermore, In the same month, he will tour to Japan with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, of which he is music director.
“The musicians of CBSO and I have a family-like relationship. I have too good a time working with them every day”. The Japan tour with the orchestra with whom he has a relationship of deep trust is highly anticipated.
