Miku Yasukawa comes from Tokushima in Japan and studied at Tokyo University of the Arts before moving to the U.K. where she completed her studies on the Artist Diploma Course, with a distinction, at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Miku was a finalist for the prestigious Gold Medal 2023 and performed at the Barbican Centre. Miku played the role of Norina in Don Pasquale with Hurn Court Opera to great critical acclaim, including a five star review from Opera Now magazine. Other recent highlights include performing Ravel’s Shéhérazade under the baton of Jonathan Nott with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Brahms’s German Requiem with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and with Bach Collegium Japan under Masaaki Suzuki. The latter has been recorded and will be released on CD under the BIS Records label.
Miku’s studies are generously supported by the Yonden Cultural Foundation, The Sidney Perry Foundation and the Japanese Agency of Cultural Affairs.
