May Nagahisa
May Nagahisa studied at the Masako Fukada Ballet Academy, and was awarded first prize (junior division) in the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP). May enrolled in the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco at the age of 13. At 15, she was discovered by Mariinsky Ballet director Yuri Fateev, and performed in “La Bayadere” at the International Ballet Festival. At the time of her graduation she joined the company as a trainee, and she became a Second Soloist at the young age of 18. In 2021, she was promoted to First Soloist. Her repertoire includes the lead roles in The Nutcracker, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, and La Sylphide, as well as the role of Diamonds in Jewels.
May has made numerous appearances in media such as TV, newspapers, magazines, and online. She is a ballerina who has been the focus of much attention, and her future successes are widely anticipated. In 2020, May was selected for “30 Under 30,” Forbes Japan’s list of “30 people under 30 years old who will change the world.” The following year, she was selected by Forbes Asia for “Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2021.”
