ProfileProfile

The Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna was founded in 1978 on the occasion of the Strauss Festival held in Italy. In the Strauss Anniversary Year of 1999, it was selected by the City of Vienna as “the orchestra which represents Vienna around the world.”

As a result, since January 1, 2000, it has had the honor of performing in the New Year Gala concert held at the Wiener Konzerthaus, and has received ever more enthusiastic acclaim.

The orchestra has an established reputation for performing the music of Viennese composers like Strauss and Lehar.

It delights audiences with its beautiful tone color and the characteristically Viennese charm and joy of its playing.

The Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna plays an important role in preserving and carrying on the Viennese musical tradition, and is recognized as one of the leading musical ensembles in Europe.
