Natalie Dessay, soprano



From Paris to Vienna, Natalie Dessay sang Mozart (Königing der Nacht, Konstanze, Concert’s Arias…), Richard Strauss (Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Sophie in Rosenkavalier, Aminta in Die Schweigsamefrau), but it is in French repertoire she made her “debut“ with Olympia in Opera de Paris and Lakmé in Opéra Comique.

Natalie Dessay sang Stravinsky’s Rossignol in Théâtre du Châtelet and in Berlin, Ophélie (Hamlet) in Grand Théâtre of Geneva, Capitole de Toulouse, Théâtre du Châtelet, Covent Garden et Liceu of Barcelona, Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) in Metropolitan Opera of New-York and Opera de Paris.

Natalie Dessay began to sing Bel Canto with Amina (La Sonnambula) in Opéra de Lausanne, Opéra de Bordeaux, Scala of Milano and Santa Fe, Lucie de Lammermoor (the French version) in Opéra de Lyon. She sang Lucia (Italian version) in Chicago Opera, role she has to sing in the Metropolitan Opera of New-York.
She has performed Massenet’s Manon in Grand Théâtre of Geneva, Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande) in Glasgow, Juliette (Roméo et Juliette de Gounod) in the Met, Pamina (Zauberflöte) in Santa Fe, Lucia (Lucia di lammermoor) at The Opera de Paris, and Amina (Sonnambula) at the Opéra de Lyon and the Théâtre des Champs Elysées.
More recently, she has sung Marie (La Fille du Régiment) at the Covent Garden Royal Opera House, in Vienna and at the Met, Lucia at the Metropolitan opera under James Levine’s baton, Manon at the Liceu of Barcelona and in San Francisco.

Plans include, Manon’s part in Chicago Opera. She will sing Mélisande in Vienna (Theater an de Wien) and in Japan, Amina, Ophelie and Lucia in the Metropolitan Opera, Traviata in Santa Fé and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Musetta (La Bohème), Annina, Cleopatra at the Opéra de Paris, Marie (La Fille du Régiment) at the Covent Garden Royal Opera House…
Natalie Dessay also gives numerous concerts with conductors (Japon Canada, France…)
