To Our Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the management and staff of Japan Arts Corporation, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your kind concern and for all the heartfelt messages we have received in response to the earthquake and tsunami in north-eastern Japan. Your messages have reaffirmed our conviction that connections created through music have a strong basis in trust and affection, and we are very gratified by this.
As reported in the worldwide media, Japan and especially north-eastern Japan is facing unprecedented difficulties. The largest earthquake and tsunami in memory caused many casualties, and huge numbers of people in the hardest hit areas are struggling to overcome the present challenges of daily life. At the same time, they are working together to sustain hope and help one another through this time. In other areas of Japan which suffered relatively little damage, including Tokyo, we are returning to everyday life while doing what we can to support those in the afflicted areas.
Meanwhile, the Japanese and international media are closely covering the serious situation at the nuclear facility that was damaged by this unprecedented earthquake and tsunami. While radiation leakage from the nuclear facility is a serious concern, efforts to prevent further damage through the cooperation of the Japanese government and Tokyo Electric Power Company continue day and night. Currently in Tokyo, which is about 250 kilometers away from the facility, there is considered to be no real risk to public health, so people are remaining calm while following the updates in the media.
It will surely take a long time for the area of the disaster to recover and we pray that there will be no further injury or damage. At the same time, we believe that what we at Japan Arts can do is actively support the people affected by the disaster through music.
We have also heard from many Japanese musicians that they would like to help give people strength and courage through music.
In response to your kind messages of concern and support, we wanted to inform you of our present situation. On this website we will continue to update you on new developments and the situation of our company and its work.
Thank you again for your support.
Best regards,
Japan Arts Corporation
